Key 3: Protect and Prepare
This step covers most of the initial work to make things happen. We can’t give you a complete list of everything to be done. But we can give you some tools and some things to think about.
To make sure you keep the ball rolling:
1. Make a work plan.
Create goals and action steps to meet the goals. Make sure assignments are clear and that everyone is committed to following through.
2. Keep meeting often to discuss, readjust, solve problems, etc.
3. Keep involving the community.
Some areas for attention:
Protect the resources.
Your heritage resources are valuable--including archaeological sites, buildings, landscapes, artifacts, and stories. Be sure that you don't inadvertently let the goose that lays golden eggs die! Here are some tools for preservation.
Prepare for people.
